Avni Rajpal, CAT-LP (she/her)

Avni is an art therapist who draws on imagination and creativity to help clients understand themselves, build resilience, and navigate change. She works with adults facing a range of experiences, including anxiety, grief, trauma, and questions of identity, with a particular interest in supporting QTPOC individuals. Avni believes therapy is most effective when it meets people where they are, and she strives to create collaborative spaces where clients feel affirmed and able to explore their experiences without fear of judgment.

Grounded in relational and psychodynamic approaches, Avni integrates art making, movement, and conversation as ways to process emotions that may be difficult to put into words.

Therapy sessions offer a space to work through shame, try on different roles, and experiment with new perspectives. Through these practices, Avni empowers clients to recognize their strengths and move towards personal transformation.

Avni holds an M.A. in Art Therapy from NYU and a B.S. in Biopsychology from Tufts University. Her background in research informs a curiosity-driven approach, and her experience facilitating programs in community settings informs her focus on relational and collective healing.

As a queer South Asian therapist, Avni uses an intersectional framework centering culturally informed, identity-affirming care. She engages with power, oppression, and the impact of societal structures in her practice. Avni is committed to building authentic therapeutic relationships that provide a supportive space for clients to understand and express their needs and emotions.
