Welcoming Sabrina Rubenstein, LMSW, to Transcendent Self Therapy

We are delighted to welcome Sabrina Rubenstein, LMSW, to the team at Transcendent Self Therapy.

Sabrina works with adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, relationship concerns, life and career transitions, grief and loss, burnout, identity exploration, and the experience of feeling stuck or disconnected. Her approach is warm, relational, collaborative, and holistic. She creates a space where clients can slow down, become curious about their inner lives, and feel genuinely seen—without needing to have everything figured out before beginning therapy.

Sabrina understands emotional well-being in the context of the whole person. Alongside talk therapy, she may incorporate art, nature, mindfulness, or movement when these approaches resonate with a client. Her work is grounded in the belief that creativity and embodied experience can sometimes help us reach feelings or perspectives that words alone cannot fully access.

Sabrina earned her Master of Social Work from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work and holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Tulane University, with minors in psychology and gender and sexuality studies. Her clinical experience has brought her into relationship with people across a wide range of ages, identities, backgrounds, and life circumstances.

At Educational Alliance, Sabrina provided individual therapy to adults, co-facilitated an expressive arts group, and led a mental health support circle focused on life stressors, aging-related transitions, and emotional well-being. Her work included trauma-informed care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and helping clients connect with meaningful community resources.

Sabrina also worked with court-involved, incarcerated, and formerly incarcerated adolescents and young adults through Drama Club. In this setting, she provided individual therapy and facilitated creative exercises—including collage, journaling, blackout poetry, vision boards, and improvisation—to help young people develop coping skills, process emotion, and explore difficult experiences safely.

Her experience co-facilitating support groups for adolescents and adults with ADHD further informs her ability to help clients better understand their patterns, strengthen practical skills, and approach neurodivergence with greater self-compassion.

Before becoming a therapist, Sabrina spent several years as a wedding planner, coordinating large and emotionally significant events while helping people navigate stress, competing expectations, family dynamics, and unexpected interpersonal challenges. This background deepened her interest in the ways relationships, transitions, culture, and family systems shape our emotional lives.

Sabrina’s Jewish identity and involvement in Jewish communities have also contributed to her appreciation for the roles of culture, spirituality, belonging, family, and inherited traditions. She welcomes clients who wish to explore these dimensions of their lives while remaining attentive to the personal and distinct meaning they hold for each individual.

We are excited for Sabrina to bring her warmth, creativity, adaptability, and genuine curiosity to Transcendent Self Therapy. Her ability to hold both the practical and emotional dimensions of people’s lives makes her a wonderful addition to our team.

Sabrina offers individual therapy in person in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and virtually throughout New York. To learn more or schedule a complimentary consultation, contact Transcendent Self Therapy.
