Individual Therapy
Humanistic, trauma-informed care that blends depth work with practical skills—tailored to you.
At Transcendent Self Therapy, we know that no two people heal in the same way. That’s why our work is carefully tailored to your unique needs and rooted in an affirming, humanistic, and trauma-informed stance. Our clinicians draw from a wide range of modalities—psychodynamic therapy, DBT, internal family systems (IFS), narrative therapy, art therapy, and somatic approaches—so that your therapy can be as layered and dynamic as your life. We don’t prescribe medication and we’re not a fit for those requiring hospitalization, but we can guide you toward trusted resources if needed.
Therapy with us is both practical and imaginative. Together, we’ll build insight into the patterns behind your distress and use that awareness to create meaningful change. At the same time, we’ll help you move through the emotions that surface in the process. Depending on your needs, sessions may include mindfulness practices, gentle movement, or art-making—tools that invite the body and imagination into healing, not just the mind. We see therapy as a co-created journey, one where dreams, writing, music, or metaphor can become doorways to deeper understanding.
We also believe care should be accessible. That’s why we accept Aetna insurance and offer a sliding scale, making therapy more affordable without sacrificing quality. Sessions are generally held once per week, providing a steady rhythm of support. Head, heart, body, and spirit are all welcomed into the room as we work together toward greater clarity, resilience, and connection.
What you can expect
A thoughtful match. We’ll pair you with a therapist who fits your needs, preferences, and schedule.
Collaborative goals. Together we’ll clarify what “feeling better” looks like—emotionally, relationally, creatively, and in the body.
Weekly momentum. Most clients meet once per week for 45 to 60 minutes; longer sessions are available when clinically helpful.
Beyond talk. When useful, we weave in mindfulness, movement, dreams, writing, music, and art to help express and transform what’s hard to say.
How therapy works here
Consult & match. Share what you’re looking for; we’ll recommend a therapist and first steps.
Early sessions. Build safety, map patterns, and get relief tools you can use right away.
Deepen & integrate. Process emotions, shift stuck dynamics, and practice new ways of being—head, heart, body, and spirit.
Sustain change. We’ll pace the work so gains stick in daily life.
Approaches we use
Psychodynamic: Understand patterns, heal old wounds, and create real change.
DBT: Skills for mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and relationships.
IFS: Build harmony among different “parts” of self so you feel more whole.
Narrative: Re-author the stories you live by; make room for new chapters.
Somatic: Tune into the body to release stress and trauma held in the nervous system.
Art-based therapy: Use imagery and making to access feelings and meaning when words aren’t enough.
Is this for me?
We help with anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, relationship difficulties, life transitions, panic & OCD, disordered eating & body image, trauma, and identity concerns.
